Memorial Weekend 2007

I recently returned from a fabulous trip with my entire family.  My wife and I traveled to Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands with my two daughters, their husbands and their children (my five grandchildren).  We made the trip for five days to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary.  We had the pleasure of staying at the absolutely gorgeous Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Resort and the Seven Mile Beach.  I have to say that the beach was one of the most spectacular beaches I have ever seen.  The water was bright blue and clear and the sand was magnificent. Each morning, I enjoyed walking on the white sand and took in the view while getting some great exercise.  My grandkids had a blast in the pool and on the beach as they had fun in the kayaks, snorkeling and they even visited Stingray City where they could feed and touch the stingrays in the ocean.  It was a great educational experience for everyone.

The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Resort was first introduced to me by my dear friend, tennis guru, Nick Bollettieri.  The Courts by Nick Bollettieri are part of the first class facility available at the hotel.  The have both clay and grass courts and Nick visits frequently to offer tennis clinics to hotels guests and residents of the hotel.  I was able to get in some tennis while there as I played against my daughters and my grandkids took a tennis clinic with the Director of Tennis at the Resort, Thomas Neuert, a former Bollettieri pupil. The kids had a blast and enjoyed a great instructional tennis lesson.

The trip also included two rounds of golf on the fantastic golf course the resort offers.  My wife and I enjoyed two rounds of golf on our trip with our two sons-in-law.  Of course, the trip would not have been complete without some of the first class dining and cuisine we experienced.  The resort had several great restaurants, but perhaps the best was BLUE by Eric Ripert.  This was not a restaurant for the kids and my wife and I had a fabulous meal one evening in this wonderful restaurant just the two of us.  Both the food and service were outstanding.  I cannot say enough about the great hospitality and warmth of all of the people and staff at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Resort.

We had an amazing trip, but perhaps the best part was being able to enjoy some quiet time with my family and all of my grandkids.  I know we created many memories we will cherish for a lifetime.
