I was very impressed by Texas in its wins over Iowa and California to win the 2K Sports Classic.

The Longhorns have great size, length and athleticism up front. Even without injured guard Isaiah Taylor (wrist), the Longhorns were super against Cal Friday night. Texas played tenacious defense, performing as a unit.

Rick Barnes has a team that is going to be tough to deal with as the season progresses.

While getting ready to call the Syracuse-California game at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, I really enjoyed a day in the Big Apple.

I had an outstanding dinner at Beccos. Then I attended the Broadway show “Beautiful”, which was the story of Carole King. It was truly a terrific performance and I went backstage and met all of the stars, including the lead, Jessie Mueller. She was absolutely phenomenal.

I am looking forward to a great doubleheader at the Mecca of college hoops. Texas-Iowa and Syracuse-California should be excitement city, baby!

I was really excited to be part of the Pizza Hut promotional campaign for their Flavor of Now Campaign. Lorraine and I had a great time in Boring Maryland…that`s right! Let me tell you it was anything but boring.

I had so much fun calling the numbers off as we played bingo and we distributed all kinds of new recipes to the community. They had a chance to get a first taste of the new recipes coming out November 19th. It was FUN city! The Pizza Hut team and local Firefighters presented me with a $10,000 check for cancer research.

I also did  a 3 hour radio tour promoting the Pizza Hut campaign throughout the nation.

I had a blast hosting the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Tennis Tounament in Lakewood Ranch over the weekend.

Thanks to everyone involved as the event was a success once again. Congrats to the winners; on the women’s side, Katerina Adomovich of Oklahoma State defeated Florida’s Belinda Woolcock in the singles final. Bruno Semenzato of Duke defeated Princeton’s Zack McCourt in the men’s final.

A special thanks to Paul Lederman and Chris Marquez for bringing in so many talented players and teams to participate. Also, special thanks to my buddy Larry Wade, who got together the corporate sponsorship banners which helped raise over $60,000 to the V Foundation for pediatric cancer research. This was so special to me.

It was another great weekend of college football action.

The race for the four playoff slots is tightening up even more. Teams like Alabama, TCU, Ohio State, Baylor, Arizona State and Oregon really helped themselves. Auburn and Notre Dame hurt their causes with a second loss each. Gus Malzahn’s Tigers were stunned at home by Texas A&M, and now may have to settle for the spoiler role vs. Alabama down the line.

Coming up is another important game as Alabama hosts Mississippi State.

I had the opportunity  to be the keynote speaker at a Safeguard Properties Corporate Event at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC. Safeguard is the largest company in the nation that services banks in preserving properties. I want to thank Alan Jaffa, Todd Burken, Karen Tester and Erin and Taryn. They were all great people and held a phenomenal conference. I was proud to speak to the group on The Game of Life and cant thank everyone enough for standing ovation.
